This solo for Cannonball Adderley’s Work Song was recorded at a gig at a jazz club called Columbia Station in Washington, D.C. I was using my 1958 Les Paul Standard and a 1966 Fender Vibrolux Reverb. The amp is notable only because I bought it from Danny Gatton in 1982. Danny used the amp on his excellent 1978 album Redneck Jazz. I bought the Burst from Guitar Trader in Red Bank NJ in the early 1970’s. Back then it was just a used guitar.

Awesome!! Keeping em coming. Great stuff. Yes, I remember even in the early 80s. A 60s Strat was just a thing because the 70s and 80s strats at that time were considered junk. Hence the reason builders like David Schecter, Wayne Charvel and all the Japanese brands became so popular. Which is funny because now all those have a “vintage” following.

Sounds great!
There’s always been a certain character in this good old classic “vintage” gear that sounds, and even more feels as the player, like “home base” to me. Sometimes hard to verbalize.
