I'm a massive Jackson Browne fan and probably equally love David Lindley.

Was listening to this late '70s live playing of "Running on Empty." Would this have been Lindley's ODS #02 era? Also those speakers sound so much like Altec 417s to me.

Anyway, I love this tone, the writing, and just the whole performance. So smooth, but also incredibly layered. Beautiful.

I’m also a big fan of JB and DL- what a great team of songwriting, performance and tone! Thanks for sharing - dredged up some good memories - I saw them around that time at the Garden State Arts Center in NJ and it was amazing! And I think you may be right about it being #002, and, if so the 417’s would be the cab. I recall reading somewhere along the way that DL recorded Running on Empty using #008, though? Either way, great tones!

i agree! I'm definitely not an expert on that. I hate i never got to see David Lindley, but I enjoy listening to his music. His cover of "The Indifference of Heaven" might be one of my favorite covers of any song ever.

I saw David and El Rayo X a few times, once opening for Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks. What a freakin' tone he had. Pretty sure it was one of the Dumbles, but that was a long time ago.

I also saw him in LA at Trutone Music, I did a double take. He was hauling out an old Fender amp.

I've been a big fan of his. Love his playing, feel and tone. Too bad he left us so soon.
