Got this amp loaned to me to try out graciously sent by Tim. I have owned multiple of his builds from Ronin Audio Research as well as Audio Eyra.
This is an incredible amplifier. This is from his new Tonkraf company. I’d put the character of the sound somewhere between a Vox AC30 and a great tweed style amp. It has some wild Trainwreck type gain, too. This amp is powered by two EL84s. I am a simple person, so simple controls are ideal for me. This one has a gain, tone, and volume. There is a bypass switch for the effects loop with a level that can be used as a sort of “boost”, too. This can be bypassed.
I am astonished at the array of tones available just by adjusting dynamics.
I made a few clips of the amp. All were made with my Fiam Tele style guitar straight in to the amp. All clips were recorded on my iPhone. Some may not love that recording method, but I find it’s the most straightforward and accurate to what I’m actually hearing in the room. If it’s not your thing, I understand. Please feel free to ignore my clips. There is a Strymon dig on one clip in the loop and a Strymon Volante in another for the clean and overdriven tones, respectively. Cab is an audio Eyra 1x15 with an SRO 15.
Enough talk:
First clip is a collection of clips ranging from pristine cleans to overdrive sounds. Settings for each clip precede the divisions in the video:
