I love soundtracks, one of my main inspirations all the way back from my childhood as we discussed in other threads.
When great & well fitting the screenplay, those really are a key part of the movie & related story telling experience.
Said otherwise, without them, that movie wouldn't have the same impact.
Quick list from the top of my mind, what I love, impacted me the most and fit the above description to me:
Star Wars (the original trilogy); and most of what John Williams did.
Blade Runner; and most of what Vangelis did.
The Blade Runner 2049 sequel, driven by Hans Zimmer, was a nice refresh & hommage IMHO.
Gladiator & Interstellar, while we're talking about Hans Zimmer (who has been one of the main go-to guys for most big budget movies over the last 30+ years it seems)
Batman (the '89-92 Tim Burton ones, with Danny Elfman's score)
Dune (the '84 David Lynch one, with Brian Eno & Toto contributing to the score)
Top Gun (Harold Faltermeyer); the recent sequel was fantastic btw, beyond (my very high) expectations, must be one of the best times I've had in a theater for a long long time.
Last of the Mohicans (where I think I remember Daniel Lanois contributed) and The Conan early 80's series (Basil Poledouris) were great agree!
Terminator 1 & 2 (Brad Fiedel)
Alien (Jerry Goldsmith)
Predator & Back to the Future (Alan Silvestri)
Ghostbusters from the 80's (Elmer Bernstein)
Tron, especially the Legacy sequel (Daft Punk); the later I often like to use as a reference to assess listening situation / environment, love it as a unique "morph" of greatly recorded & mixed classical orchestral ensemble & synth/electronic music.
Ghost in the Shell (the mid 90's animated film)
Some of the great & less serious / fun 80's classic TV series also, like Miami Vice (Jan Hammer), Knight Rider, Airwolf...
