Marshall Line Amp Demo II

This clip is from a gig my fusion band played last night. I’m using my recently acquired James Tyler JTG-Mk1 with the midboost engaged, my Jim Kelley 1x12 with an Electro-Voice EVM-12S and a little bit of reverb from a UA Golden Reverberator. Something I really love about this amp is that the KT66’s sound fuller and more musical than 6L6’s and smoother and less aggressive than EL34’s with a American-style tone instead of the British EL34 crunch usually associated with Marshall’s. It is really perfect for what I play. I did the recording with my Zoom F8n Pro Multitrack Field Recorder and a pair of Neumann KM 184 mics in a XY configuration.

BTW, someone on The Gear Page has Serial Number #18 for sale. I don't know anything about the seller, but I thought I would pass this on for anyone interested in acquiring one of these absolutely killer amps.

That sounds fantastic and great playing as always!
I agree, the amp character sounds like it suits your style & playing really well.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.....I wasn't sure a Marshall-based amp would work for me but Rob convinced me that it would and he was right.

Yes, as you said it sounds like it has some of the character of the good "US style hot-rod" kind of amps (thinking Kelley / Dumble style).
Very "fluid" & "musical" sounding lead lines, fat/thick yet still clear, articulate and dynamic; works wonders for the kid of music you play and your phrasing/technic.

When I had the idea for this amp 2 years ago. It was just that. I had a gut feeling that KT66s with a rectifier would be a magic pairing. It took me over a year for me bugging Jim to be willing to do it. I think he was surprised and thrilled at the outcome. It was all I had hoped it would be and more.
