This was from a jam session. Hottentot is a John Scofield song that was on his A Go Go album. The guitar is a Gibson Pat Martino Signature with heavy (.015 - .056) Flat wound strings. The amp is a VVT X-Model 40 combo with a Celestion G12-65 speaker. The X-Model 40 was designed to be an affordable D-Style amp. I find it to be a good sounding, light weight grab-and-go amp that I can bring to rehearsals or jams without killing my back. Jim Hill, the owner of VVT, has built signature amps for Lindy Fralin, Jack Pearson and Rick Derringer. The amp isn’t exactly rare, but it is pretty much unknown. I decided to post this because not everyone can afford a high-end D-style amp.
