I've thought back & forth about posting this since yesterday as I'm usually more of a private person and don't like to post about personal matters on "the internet", especially when it's a sad one; it was truly a shock to learn of John passing. So unexpected, I was still discussing about him with several persons & buddies few days ago, and I guess lots of us had been hoping for him to "come back" with some new music & touring.
He's been a major influence to me, from the early Tygers days; one of the greatest rock icons IMHO. Not so many I could think of, especially in that music genre, that combine such high level of guitar playing AND singing, with the stage presence that goes with it.
I didn't know him personally, but I'll cherish the musical memories & inspiration, that I'm sure will still live on.
Would love to read any John Sykes stories you would have to share
