Kingsley Bandit pedal - first play

Lovely. What are your amp settings? Including the loop drive. All I get with mine is dirt, even with the gain on 2.

i think it's gain 5.5, tone 3.5, volume 2. I think the loop drive is on about 5. the sound before the bandit is turned on in clip 1 is just amp. it is somewhat driven, but not super dirty.

Interesting. What about the control on th back? Mine is way too much gain at 5.5. I do have the rear knob dimed, so that could be my issue.

I always use the loop on with nothing it (to assist in headroom) and it's set to about 12:00 or a little over. Gain is at 3 and volume is around 3. I've found in general the loop really helps to get the amp louder while still staying cleaner.

Into my OX everything gets gainier quicker, so I have to be careful with gain staging. I do find that with a speaker cab it's a lot more forgiving and doesn't gain up as quick. It's partially the perception of being in a room with the natural dispersion of sound vs a load going through hardware and software.

That knob and switch on the back are key. I hate to say I had really not fiddled with them before. Shame on me! Turning it down helped immensely. This was indeed the issue. Still not sure about the switch. Further exploration is in order. Thanks!

Yep! I like to use the loop and switch as almost a preset. Loop on gives me headroom and whatever gain staging I'm working with and pull the switch and it's like hitting an engine thruster wide open. It can take a little time to find your sweet spots but it's worth it. Like all of Tim's amps, there's a lot of gain stage balancing between all the controls that ends up giving you different tonal shades. Super cool.
