I'd love to hear what music everyone is listening to and interested in right now. I have been on a huge neo-soul/jazz fusion kick recently. Thundercat is a ridiculously good player and singer.

Wow Rob, didn't know those guys; they look & sound kind of like the Japanese version of old school Al Di Meola to me.

Yes agree, spot on.
Al has been a big influence to me, love him; such a diverse career. Loved how he's been back full force over the last few years, including on the electric; especially after his health issue. Major respect for him.

On a different note, recently found the full set of this mid 90's local club gig from EJ:

It's a gem, looks relax and into it, he really was at the top of his game around this Venus Isle / G3 tour era IMHO.
Gotta love the full old Marshall rig too, blankets and all.

I will definitely be listening to all of this. EJ is one of my all-time favorite players and he is definitely on fire in this one. As much as I love his overdriven sound, his clean sound is a hallmark for me. Just beautiful.

Talking about his clean tones, as great as this mid 90's Venus Isle era was, I've always preferred his 80's clean sound live when he was using the bigger amps & cabs (with the dual Twin Reverb in a 4x12 rig especially); there was a "weight" and depth that the Deluxe Reverbs just can't match IMHO.
I remember a particular early / mid 80's clinic video especially, that was spectacular. I'll see if I can find it again.

I can't seem to find that old EJ clinic video, looks like it was removed from youtube sorry.
So sharing some early 90's Gary Moore instead:

He also has the full show uploaded.
This Beacon Theatre one is great too:

Not the best recording quality indeed, but when such performances are so great I find I usually quickly listen beyond the lofi first impression; those videos seem to capture the live experience quite well despite that.

Btw my quick Gary Moore story:
I remember seeing him in the very early 2000's in Paris, big indoor arena show, opening for ZZ Top; I love ZZ Top, but I have to say I must have been even more excited about seeing Gary. And it looked like I was not the only one, the place was full way before the start, really looking forward to him coming up.
I managed to get few rows from the front center, few meters from him; mesmerizing experience. One of my best live music memory ever.
Despite the fact that I remember I was initially so frustrated he didn't play his vintage LP (lol).
To be honest, ZZ Top was cool but felt quite dull after that.
Miss him.

Just stumbled upon that thanks to youtube algo, gotta share it as it sure does sound like nice inspiring music to my ears:

Sorry for the off-topic, it's late at night here; had to share someway :)

Agree, George was to me one of the "great originals" back in the 80's / early 90's, a true unique style that immediately pops out. When he was on top of his game he was fantastic.
I've also seen a few recent live videos where he was still on fire.

Without any transition, on a completely different note:

That clip, and the overall original Miami Vice series, is one of the best examples that I regularly think of to illustrate how powerful the orchestration & combination of music + film can be to convey a message. Much more than the sum of the 2 parts.

That's fantastic. I haven't ever heard that one. Really good song. Thanks for sharing that.

Welcome!
Russ Ballard made some really great songs & albums back in the 70's & 80's; the later were all over the Miami Vice series. He also worked / wrote for a lot of other artists.
Some of his songs made it even bigger I think after being re-played/covered by others.

For ex that one:

Then covered by Ace in his solo album a few years later, in a brillant way IMHO:
