Scholz Sugarcone reissue

So, what do you think? :)
How does that feel/sound to you at first glance VS the old Fane and other speakers you have?

Here’s what I wrote to someone else earlier:

It’s very early to tell exactly how it will shape up, but so far so good. At first, I thought it was warmer than I expected (or wanted) but my ears adjusted to the change pretty soon.

I tend to go for higher efficiency speakers, so I turned the amp up a bit more than I would typically to achieve a similar volume.

Overall, it seems a pretty stout, balanced speaker that, now that you mention it, actually reminds me a bit of the SRO. Meaning- balanced frequency wise with a strong feeling, but more of a familiar “guitar type” speaker than a 12L. With EVs, I’ve always felt that 12Ls just happen to sound good with guitar but SROs sound like they were meant for guitar (even if they weren’t haha).

Haven’t done any direct comparisons yet, but my initial thought was that I didn’t really hear much Fane in it though. Not that that really matters, I want it to be its own thing, which I think it is.

i agree with you. i need to compare to SRO. At first blush, the SRO may have slightly larger low mid content, but there is a musicality to this speaker that's very similar to the SRO to me.

Thanks for the feedbacks.
Actually good thing to me it sounds more like its own thing than a kind of “Fane-replica”, or any other knock-off (which usually fall short).
As any new speaker I also imagine it will be interesting to follow-up how it brakes in over time with playing.

That’s too bad, hopefully they show up soon. You got a quad, right? What cab are you planning on trying them in?
I got 4 just figuring I would like the speaker. I’ve had the originals and really enjoyed them. So I’m doing a 4 ohm Kerry Wright 2x12 with my ODR. And I have 2 Jim Kelley Thieles I will load the others in.

I also bought 2 more just in under the sale wire after I got ship notification.
