Can we talk about speakers for a minute?

Mine is on the way. Can’t wait! I have been using a 2x12 w/sugarcone V1 with my JKL and love it. This new cab has been “specially formulated” to match the JKL. It should be awesome.

In da house! Man, it dials in much differently than the 2x12. Much brighter and honky at first than expected, but a little patience has yielded excellent results. Definitely have to tweak with your ears, not your eyes. I only had a minute with it this morning. Really looking forward to a deeper dive this evening. This will be fun. (I do sort of wish it had the same logo as the JKL head…) I have a really good feeling about this one.

I have yet to hear an amp that doesn’t sound better because of these speakers. I feel like finally there’s a modern speaker that can match and support and even enhance these great unique amps we all have.

Wow. I’m thinking my Phoenix combo needs an Alnico sugarcone. Anyone tried that?

I tried the eminence alnico and the sugar alnico in my Phoenix. I liked both better than the stock speaker it came with. However, the sugar was the clear winner. Like everything else I’ve played the sugars. They just make everything sound better no matter how great it already is.

I’d say it is sweeter and cleaner than the Eminence that came with the amp. Bright, but not overly so, and still has thump.

Definitely. I’m going to tweak a bit more and see what I can get. The tone knob is almost completely off here. Though that’s almost always my preferred setting on most amps.

Jupiter alnico's are also real real nice with the Fonix too.
