I am extremely excited to share this amp. This was built by Tim Thompson of Audio Eyra. Jim’s perfect Line circuit was built into a donor Marshall 1962HW combo.

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with how this turned out. The combo comes with the original greenback speakers. This amp absolutely roars in the way you’d expect a Line amp to do, but also has that incredible singing quality these amps possess. Tim did an incredible job.

I made a video demonstrating each channel. There are no jumped channels, but I will make more videos with the channels jumped and with effects. I’m over the moon.

Damn, sounds great. Still has the classic Marshall vibe, love that.
Does Tim modify the Marshall different preamp "channels"/inputs when putting in the Line circuit? "Input 2" sound to me like they have lots of gain and "Channel 2" quite brighter than what I'd expect for a stock Marshall 4 input setup.

I am not sure exactly how he did this other than using Jim’s circuit. I would have to defer that to those with much more knowledge than me.

There are a few changes. Overall Jim felt the JTM45 trem circuit was a bit flubby and I would agree 100%. So he made it more usable across the board and then implanted his circuit. For what I’m hearing. I chalk this up to the best Marshall I have ever played. Ive played my fair share and then some.

Thanks for the input Rob; I've also seen Jim's reply in the TGP thread, great insight. Makes sense.
I would also agree that an old JTM tube rectified Marshall can be quite on the dark / bassy side, even more so on the "bass" 2nd channel; it usually benefits from some kind of mid/treble boost in front IMHO when in stock form.

Yeah. Jim limited the need for any outside necessities. This amp sounds better than any of the 3 Marshall Dumbles I had/have. I don’t say that lightly as they are all exceptional. One of those things where you don’t realize what’s missing until you hear it. I had the same realization about the Dumbles. Can something be more greater than perceived perfection. Haha

Wow is all I can say… I took the plunge and today I received the JKL #19 (last one in the batch) I can now hear and feel all the hype of Jim Kelley’s work. I have been told by several JK owners that it’s the best OD in the business and they weren’t lying. Thanks to Rob and Chris for answering all my questions and kudos to Jim and Tim for creating this amazing amp. Btw.. if my wife asks, it was a gift!!!

Ed, so happy you enjoy the amp and I was happy to be of assistance. I take pride in being able to line people up with the right tools for them. That’s a special amp and I don’t imagine there’s many if any that would disagree. Enjoy!!
